Datina Folk Ensemble is an organization focused on educating individuals about Romanian traditional arts. Ansamblul Folcloric Datina este o organizație dedicată educării indivizilor despre tradiția românească.
Here at Datina, our mission is to help participants enrich their cultural lives and to pursue personal fulfillment through performing of traditional dances and music, as well as learning about arts and crafts from Romania. We strive to preserve and promote the Romanian heritage and culture.
Often times, first generation kids have difficulties connecting with their heritage and culture. Our program aims to help provide kids a place to learn about and experience their ancestors' traditions.
We always strive to encompass all parts of age-old Romanian traditions and customs and lifestyle, from the dances, clothing and music to the very instruments we use.
Through comprehensive research, our performances strive to embody the quintessential lifestyle of centuries old Romanian traditions, and to open a window into their beauty and unique nature celebrating work, everyday life and the robust communion of man and mother earth.
